Telltale Games has built its success on the back of popular and existing franchises, but it has an original IP in the works.
A reference to this “upcoming original IP” was made as part of the announcement that company president and co-founder, Kevin Bruner, is taking over the role of CEO from Dan Connors. It’s not the end for Connors though, as he will stay on as an executive advisor.
Bruner’s full statement also mentioned “unannounced partnerships” and said that it is the most exciting time to be at Telltale Games. Could Telltale Games be working on that James Bond tie-in that it has always dreamed of, could we see a story-focused tale from the Star Wars universe, or will the joke that Telltale will take the reins of Half-Life 3 become a reality?
No matter what the partnership entails, it’s likely that the franchise is in good hands. Telltale Games has had great success of late with titles like The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us, while Tales from the Borderlands and Game of Thrones are off to a strong start. It was recently announced that Telltale would be working on a Minecraft related game, which will be intriguing to see if nothing else.
