The Evil Within Delayed Til Late 2014

Shinji Mikami is a legend in the world of game development. His most obvious achievement is as the director behind the first Resident Evil game in 1996, shepherding the series to blockbuster status in the years since.

But he's also put his name to titles as varied as Shadows of the Damned, God Hand and Viewtiful Joe, in addition to being the director on one of the greatest action titles of the last few years - 2010's Vanquish. Thank you Mikami-san!

For his next project, he's back on more or less familar ground for a survival horror title called The Evil Within. There's a strange story of a cop lost in a world filled with terrible monsters, lurching bad guys, heaving masses of flesh and all manner of creepiness. So exactly what you expect.

Fans have been awaiting more news on the game for over a year since its initial annoucement and a slew of positive previews have recently hit the next suggesting its another triumph for Mikami. Here's how people react.

Unfortunately, this hilarious video comes with a price - the release date has been pushed back. Now you won't get a chance to be terrified by The Evil Within until October 2014.

That's not a very long delay so we can only assume its about polishing what they have rather than any major perceived failing in what Tango Gameworks has created. Let's hope its the only delay the game suffers on its way to release.

The Evil Within is coming to Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, Xbox One and PC from the 24th of October 2014.
