The Last Guardian - new screens and an actual release date!

The Last Guardian was supposed to be a follow up to the much loved Shadow of the Colossus which released in 2005 and development started in earnest shortly afterwards. Then there was a major reveal at E3 2009 and... life got in the way.

Now Sony has confirmed that Fumito Ueda's game is absolutely, postively coming out in 2016 - on the 25th of October to be precise. And they even had some new gameplay to prove it.

It looks very much like the same game we've been seeing for seven years now, albeit with a bad monster cat thing this time around. The graphics certainly don't look next gen anymore but with the proliferation of indie hits with less technically impressive looks that might actually work in its favour.

We still don't really know what you're going to be doing in the game but the relationship between the bot and Trico (that's its name) will be of utmost importance, and there will be puzzles and platforming and probably lots of crying too.

Sony unleashed some all new screenshots too. Behold.
