Ok so The Last Guardian is actually coming out in October 2016, though we're going to have to wait to see if that really comes to pass.
The game has been in the works for almost a decade and has suffered numerous delays and was even rumoured to be cancelled at one stage. But the title returned with more new footage for E3 2016 and also added a concrete release date.
Now it's time to learn more about the game direcly from creator and director Fumito Ueda via the PlayStation Blog.
It seems this will be the first game from Team Ico which features a voiceover rather than non verbal communication or noises. You'll get to hear the character speak as an older man over his adventures in the game. Spoiler alert - does that mean he definitely survives.
Ueda also reveals how the opening of the game plays out, as the first step in creating a bond between the boy and the strange beast called Trico. You'll be tasked with guiding the boy to pull two spears from the injured creatures body - and it won't just happen in a cutscene.
The relationship is also set to be a complicated one: "But rather than the more straightforward relationships seen in Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, you’ll see both dramatic peaks and troughs in their relationship…"
It already sounds like there's a lot going on in The Last Guardian - maybe this is that rare game which can live up to its hype after almost a decade.
The Last Guardian is on PS4 on the 25th of October, 2016.
