Co-President of Naughty Dog, Evan Wells, explained that the option was included for those “who wanted the experience as close to the original (PS3) as possible." He denied, when asked by a fan on Twitter, that this option was instated because the 60fps frame-rate fluctuates frequently.
Of course, The Last of Us Remastered isn’t the first PlayStation 4 title to give users the option of locking a lower frame-rate. Killzone: Shadow Fall and inFamous: Second Son also include this feature.
The Last of Us Remastered will arrive with be released on PlayStation 4 with all add-on content released. It will also include a new Photo Mode, similar to the one in inFamous: Second Son, which features a free camera and filters.
