Yep so The Witcher 3 was one of the best games in recent memory and developers CD Project RED hit every aspect out of the park. Now that they're moving onto a new project - Cyberpunk 2077 - thoughts of The Witcher are far from their minds.
Studio head Marcin Iwinski was talking to Eurogamer and had this to say on what happens after the release of the DLC pack on the 31st of May.
"This is the end. Blood and Wine is [the] closing and there won't be any Witcher any time soon - if there ever will be one. And I would really like to see how people feel about it, if they will enjoy it."
That sounds pretty definitive and being embroiled in the world of The Witcher since the studio formed in 2002 it would be easy to understand why the company would want to work on something else.
For the moment, that's Cyberpunk 2077 and we wouldn't expect to see that release until at least late 2017 at this stage. After that, another role playing game will be ready for launch by the end of 2021, but even that may not have a character called Geralt.
The main takeaway here is that you won't be seeing much of this rich world in the future, so take your time with Blood and Wine and soak up the incredible atmosphere and the work which CD Project RED has put into this world over the last 15 years.
