What do you do after making one of the most successful indie games of all time? If you're Braid creator Jonathan Blow, you spend the next eight years building the followup - The Witness.
After a huge amount of development, the puzzle game is almost ready for its global debut, bowing on PC and PS4 on the 26th of January. It looks like a gorgeous and mind bending experience, set on an isolated island full of puzzles. It's also probably going to have a very simple story which somehow still manages to hook you in.
The Witness has been heavily pushed as a PlayStation console exclusive, even though its also releasing on PC at the same time, and the only other release news has suggested some kind of iOS version will arrive later in 2016. Well it seems another console will also be getting the game, and probably in the not too distant future.
The Xbox One version of The Witness has been rated by the ESRB, suggesting that it's content complete enough to be reviewed for content. It's extra interesting because an Xbox One release has never been mentioned by the developer or publisher, likely to keep all the attention on the PS4.
Out of interest, the game has been rated E for Everyone with some very mild references to alcohol in the dialogue. That's in line with the ratings on other platforms. We'll have more on the Witness on Xbox One soon.
