Thousands of Star Wars gamers honour Carrie Fisher

Carrie Fisher passed away this week after suffering a heart attack on the 23rd of December.

It's an understatement to say she will be missed, especially as the Star Wars saga has just started to bring itself back to the forefront of blockbuster cinema. We're going to see her again in episode 8, due Christmas 2017, and it's going to be a very touching moment for fans around the world.

Thousands of well wishers put together an impressive tribute to the actress and writer in the world of Star Wars itself. Players of MMO RPG The Old Republic have been travelling to Alderaan in the game - the world where Leia lived after her character was adopted by Bail Organa in the wake of her mothers death as shown in Episode III.

Players are assembling at the House of Organa, where one has even created a new avatar in the guise of Leia herself.

It's a lovely tribute, which even brought together members of the Sith side across multiple servers, with thousands taking part. Of course The Old Republic actually takes place more than 3500 years before the original trilogy, so Leia won't exist for a long time to come but it hardly matters when fans come together like this.
