Pokemon Go got an update recently to fix elements include the totally broken tracker. The new version includes 'sightings' which are supposed to help you track nearby Pokemon but it's still not a great system.
We had been hearing that another version was currently being tested by a small group in the San Franciso area and footage has emerged online of how it works. The short version is this is going to make it much easier to find the exact creature you're looking for with a few taps.
That really is a huge difference, letting you actually select a specific Pokemon and being shown exactly where they're hiding out on the map. Presumably you just go there and catch them in a way which was never possible in the app before.
The big question is why this feature didn't launch with the game but at least developers Niantic Labs have realised their their previous version was hopelessly awkward or just plain broken.
There's no word on when everyone will be getting this new location system but hopefully it will roll out worldwide soon.
