Resident Evil 7 has just been revealed, and this all new chapter is going to creep you out like never before.
That's because the new game is going to be compatible with Sony's PlayStation VR headset, so you'll be totally immersed in a survival horror experience. And rather than the action packed antics of the recent entries in the series, this one looks like its full of deep, dark dread.
Check out the trailer, but make sure you're not the sort to be easily creeped out as this one is eerie as heck.
The show walking pace and the limited vision of that flashlight, coupled with the flash frames makes for a heavy horror experience, and it's going to translate brilliantly to virtual reality. By which we mean you're not going to be able to sleep at all.
It's clear that some of this footage isn't final gameplay, there's a fair amount of glossy CG going on and it will be interesting to see how that's integrated into VR. The in game stuff is definitely of a lower quality than what we're used to seeing on the PS4 these days but the need to render the graphics twice at a higher frame rate requires the game to take a hit somewhere.
If nothing else this sees the series going back to its horror roots, and it's going to be all first person, all the time and totally playable on both PS4 and PS VR and there's a demo on PS Plus right now.
By the way, it's also set come to Xbox One and PC and on all platforms in January 2017.
