Vita will not support PS2 or PS3 games
Disappointment ensues as Sony explains some details.
Sony has confirmed that PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 games will not be supported by the PlayStation Vita. A PlayStation Vita FAQ from Sony stated, “PlayStation does not have plans to make PS Vita compatible with PS3 or PS2 titles at this point.” Supported digital PSP titles and minis will be playable, as will certain PSone classic titles. However, Sony did not provide any additional information regarding the PSone titles and simply said that further details will be released when available.

The comprehensive Q&A post is available here. The PlayStation Vita goes on sale on February 22nd.
