All the different ways to Thief

There's a long awaited new entry in the Thief series on the way. It's called Thief. And it's looking bally excellent.

And that's partly a surprise, its rare that a venerable series gets a reboot that's worth remembering, especially when the third entry has already been trimmed and meddled with to make it more accessible for console folk. Thief 3 was a disappointment folks.

But there are reasons to be cheerful - not least the fact that this all new Thief comes from Eidos Montreal, the fellow who memorably rebooted another much vaunted first person series with Deus Ex Human Revolution. Which was fantastic.

The best part of the original Thief entries was their freedorm nature, giving you access to a veritable playground of streets and alleyways and letting you get away with just about anything. Unless it was swordplay, that rarely went well. And the new Thief seems to be returning to that glorious first person stealing freedom.

17 minutes of gameplay footage were just released, giving you an idea of just how invisible you can manage to be with some careful play and use of the new sneaky animations on display asMaster Thief Garret tries to make his way back to hisclocktower after a messy heist.

Check it out.

You can get more info on this playthrough over on the Eidos Montreal blog.

Thief is coming to Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4 and PC from the 25th of February in North America.
