Let's basically forget Arkham Origins happened. Done, ok?
That seems to basically be the attitude of developers Rocksteady Studios, who are returning to the franchise they birthed for the third time since Arkham Asylum in 2009. And why not, its pretty much the definitive video game take on Bats.
For ArkhamKnight, they're continuing events after Arkham City, as Batman nurses his wounds and wonders about his future in the wake of the events of that game. He needn't have worried though, there are plenty more villains out there including the Scarecrow, who has returned to Gotham to finish Batman once and for all.
There's also the small matter of the character the game is named for, who appears to be some kind of evil clone of Batman and was created exclusively for this game by DC comics.
There's an all new gameplay trailer for Arkham Knight which looks very cool indeed.
It's not that the Arkham series was lacking in style to begin with but this promo takes things to a whole new level. Just look at the rain effects and the frequent use of slow motion - like when Bats is using a new ability which slows time with each takedown.
It all looks more like something to come from the mind of Zack Snyder. Which we don't think is a bad thing at all.
Batman: Arkham Knight is coming to Xbox One, PS4 and PC fom the 2nd of June 2015.
