Wolfenstein The New Order was an effectively gritty first person effort when it released last year, and its getting a prequel.
The Old Blood will tell the story of heroBJ Blazkowicz as he searches for clues to the location of the darn evil General Deathshead. It's not an expansion but an entirely standalone experience, in this case running across two parts called Rudi Jager and the Den of Wolves and The Dark Secrets of Helga Von Schabbs. The first part will release digitally in May 2015 - here's the trailer.
Mostly it looks like a lot of fun, something which videogames sometimes forget as a compelling element of any kind of entertainment. The title is being developed by Swedish outfit MachineGames, who also made The New Order, and they're going for more of a pulpy feel. I have to admit I laughed out loud when BJ started to saw that shotgun a little faster - but that may be more down to the fact that most games are so serious now.
The Old Blood will release digitally for €19.99, which sounds like great value assuming that wil be the cost for both episodes.
The Old Blood is coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC from the 5th of May 2015.
