World of Tanks trundles onto Xbox One this year with cross-platform play

The free-to-play tank combat game World of Tanks will be released on Xbox One sometime this year.

The title will use the same battle server as it does for the Xbox 360 version meaning that Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners will be able to play against one another. It will be possible to carry over accounts from Xbox 360 to Xbox One, bringing all in-game progress with you. Both systems will also share content updates and community members.

World of Tanks is available to all Xbox Live Gold Members as a free download. As you would expect, additional purchases are available in-game.

Wargaming released World of Tanks on PC in 2011. It later released the free-to-play title on Xbox 360 in February 2014. A mobile version of the game is also available to download. No release date has been announced for the Xbox One version of World of Tanks just yet.
