Xbox Avatars becoming more inclusive soon - a welcome change

Xbox Live Avatars have been a part of Microsoft systems since the Xbox 360 and the early years of the online Live service. After all that time, they're finally becoming more inclusive.

These avatars will soon come with a wheelchair option to better represent the diversity of gamers around the world. It's an upgrade which has been requested many times in the past, and apparently something Microsoft has also been tinkering with.

That's very good news indeed, and the delay seems to have come about because a graphical overhaul was in the works. The stylised look of these little guys and gals hasn't changed much over the last eight years, so it's good to see a little more detail in the faces of these examples from Xbox's Mike Ybarra.

There's no official word on when these new options will be available on Xbox Live but we'll have an updated as soon as they're ready.
