Hyrule Warriors has approximately on zillion playable characters so far announced, the latest of which is series antagonist Ganondorf. And in stark contrast to the decidedly Zelda-ish qualities of the previously trailered characters, Ganondorf wails on foes with a couple of greatswords in a decidedly Musou fashion.
For those unfamiliar with the latter, niche term, Musou is a genre typified by Dynasty Warrior’s combat – tons of enemies, big battles, unspeakably badass protagonists, combo-strings and point tallies.
Strangely enough, I’m in favour of this recent divergence from spectacle (though Ganondorf looks like he has some stellar Musou moves). It focuses instead on the heart of the core gameplay i.e. combo-building. Ganon can chain attacks and finishers for impressive points, something people will spend A LOT of time doing once Hyrule Warriors drops for the Wii U on September 19th.
