Dara O Briain will host the
BAFTA awards this year after fellow Irishman Graham Norton (48) had to step aside from the role.
Chat show host Norton is unable to front the May 27 event because of his Eurovision commitments this year. But Dara (40) isn’t taking the new appointment too seriously.
"I'm delighted and honoured to be taking the reins at this year's British Academy Television Awards in the prestigious role as the person who introduces the people who read out the winners of the awards.
"If Adele wins anything I promise I'll leave her well alone, no matter what time it is," he joked. The event falls on the same weekend as the Eurovision and will take place in London's Royal Festival Hall. O Briain has found huge success in the UK and is currently on an extensive tour called Craic Dealer which will see him play a series of dates up until April.
