One die-hard Frozen fan has gone above and beyond to prove their theory that the storylines of Disney films Frozen, Tangled and The Little Mermaid are all actually linked. And the explanation actually makes sense.
First off, it is pretty well known by now that Frozena and Tangled are definitely linked. Both Rapunzel and the sister princesses of Arendelle share a lot of the same animated characteristics. But most importantly, Rapunzel and her man Flynn Rider can be seen in Elsa's kingdom at her coronation. The recent theory surrounding this is that Rapunzel's happy ending is actually the cause of the loss of Anna and Elsa's parents.
During the song "Do You Want to Build a Snowman?" There is a break where Anna and Elsa's parents leave to set sail on a ship for a two week voyage but they tragically drown in a storm. The recent theory says that the kind and queen of Arandelle were actually going to Rapunzel's coronation, the final scene in Tangled, but died on the way.
Although we don't actually know where they were headed, the timelines of the movie's releases are reflected in the plot of Frozen. After the death of the kind and queen, Frozen jumps ahead three years to Elsa's coronation. This is the same amount of time that passed between the releases of Tangled in 2010, and Frozen in 2013.
The theory is further clarified by the possible geographical locations of each of the films. Firstly, Rapunzel's appearance in Frozen suggests that their countries are trade partners. Secondly, fans have estimated that the architectural and costume designs in Tangled are fitting with those of Germany or Poland's coastal regions in or around the 16th to the 18th centuries. Arendelle is apparently influenced by the Norwegian town of Arendal, meaning these real-world inspired kingdoms could be right across the sea from each other.
The sea brings The Little Mermaid into the mix. If it can be taken that the film is set off the coast of author Hans Christian Andersen's home country of Denmark, then it is possible that the shipwreck that Ariel hunts for human treasure in is the ship that Elsa and Anna's parents died in.
