It hasn't taken long for the rumours to start circulating about the cause of Peaches Geldof's death yesterday, but with no suicide note found and police saying there were no signs of overdose or drug abuse at the scene, it looks as though the usual go-to theories are non-starters.
Instead, website HollywoodLife.com is claiming that Geldof's diet may have been the cause. In 2011 she admitted to consuming nothing but juiced vegetables for as long as a month at a time, saying:
I do juicing. You juice vegetables and then you drink it three times a day. It’s gross. I do it usually for about a month.I have days when I wake up and think, ‘I’m so fat.'
When that news broke, the Mail Online spoke to a representative of the British Dietetic Association, who told them that such a diet isn't good news:
Surviving on fruit is a very dangerous diet. Peaches is at high risk electrolyte abnormalities which could lead to acute cardiac arrest. It is what kills anorexics.
There's nothing, so far, to suggest that Peaches was still adhering to that particularly dietary fad, but that hasn't stopped HollywoodLife from putting two and two together as a way of explaining the sad and untimely death of the mother of two...
