Actor David Monahan was unveiled yesterday as the streaker at the Europe Music Awards who shocked Hayden Panettiere on stage.

David (24) made headlines around the world with his naked appearance beside the actress when she was about the present an award for Best Song.

He said: “I was backstage as two of my friends work for security. I was getting texts from people saying you have to do something. I was like what can I do, what is the worst thing?

“I grabbed one of the blankets from a sofa behind the stage, went into a storeroom and undressed. Because everybody was running about and Lady Gaga was there nobody is going to notice a guy in a blanket.

“I went for it and it all happened. It was such a last minute thing I didn’t have a chance to get nervous. My heart was going a million miles a second and the only thing I remember is a sea of camera phones.”

Nobody said anything to David afterwards as he reckons they presumed that his stunt was part of the production. And he met Snooki from the TV show Jersey Shore after running off the stage who complemented him on his daring streak. He laughed: “I was waiting for someone to grab me and nothing happened. Snooki came up to talk to me when I was walking down the steps. She kept looking at me and she said ‘I saw your wiener’.”

Belfast hunk David is a stage actor and has appeared in a road safety advert. When he was on stage he said to Hayden: “You were in that show Heroes, nice one, I’m a big fan.” She then asked him to grab a pint with her afterwards but he told her that he didn’t have his phone on him and that he would see her at the after show party.

Unfortunately they didn’t get a chance to catch up for a drink afterward but he plans to send her a message on Twitter. David is not sure if the streak will help boost his profile as an actor and joked that it could be the “worst thing” he has ever done for his career.

Meanwhile, the North's PSNI police yesterday revealed that they made seven arrests over the weekend at events connected to the EMAs.
