For a Hollywood A-list couple, Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow’s ten-year marriage was a good, solid marriage in limited supply. The news of their separation therefore came as a shock to many in the public. According to sources, many of their troubles began five years ago, in 2009, when Paltrow took up the practice of Kabbalah, a strain of religious thought routed in Judaism.
The couple and parents of two children, Apple, aged nine, and Moses, aged seven. Announced their separation on Tuesday (25/03/14) with the follow-up comment they are still on good terms. A source told The Sun “Chris wasn't happy about it. He felt that he was starting to lose the woman he fell in love with. Chris is laid-back and low-key, and found it harder and harder to live up to her perfect standards. Gwyneth was focusing less on her showbiz career and more on her lifestyle projects. She also didn't feel like she got enough attention from Chris”.
They went on to add “Chris was really struggling with Gwyneth. Their relationship was under huge strain and he was doing everything he could to patch things up. But he felt he had no choice but to move out. Guy offered him a place to stay where he could hide out and deal with it all.”
