We all sit around and we talk and we laugh when we get together
One Direction star, Niall Horan (18) is celebrating as his chart-topping success in the UK last night has helped reunite his whole Irish family!
Niall and his X Factor bandmates soared to number one in the UK last night as their debut single What Makes You Beautiful sold more than 100,000 copies.
The band also topped the charts in Ireland on Friday with their first single.
However, the teenager from Mullingar is even happier that his divorced parents have put their differences aside to travel to the UK and help celebrate his success.
His mum Maura Gallagher and dad Bobby Horan, who split up when Niall was 5, travelled to London this week with their partners and Niall's older brother Greg (24).
“We're all over here this week,'' said mum Maura. “It's not just me, it's Niall's brother, his dad and his partner. I'm here with my husband. You're not going to be enemies. For the sake of your kids, that goes out the window.”
She added “For Niall's sake you can't be. Everybody gets together. We all sit around and we talk and we laugh when we get together for a thing like this. When he's not around, everyone goes back to their own houses doing their own thing. It works fine. He's not the only child with separated parents.''
Maura admitted that Niall has only been back to Mullingar for 23 hours since being catapulted to fame on X Factor and she finds it difficult to travel to the UK as she's not working at the moment.
“I can't afford to get here too often,'' she said. “But with the week that was in it - the single being released on Sunday, Niall's birthday on Tuesday, the book launch on Thursday, the charts on Sunday - I thought I haven't come over up to this so this is a good week.''
One Direction have broken Sony Music UK's record for pre-order sales of a single beating Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston.
The pop song also soared to the top of the iTunes charts in 13 minutes last weekend.
