Jedward Got Stranded in the Sea at Malahide and Had to be Airlifted Out. Yes Really.

So Jedward (that's John and Edward) went for a walk on Donabate beach with one of their relatives on Tuesday evening and were having such a merry time of it that they walked all the way to Malahide before they realised that tidal forces had cut them off from dry land.

Stranded on a sand bank, the pair quickly phoned mum Suzanna who (prehaps quite rightly) freaked out and got the coast guard involved. As the waters rose and the twin pop sensations no doubt feared for whatever fashion disaster they were currently wearing, a chopper was immediately dispatched to their location.

The trio were eventually rescued by a crew from the Skerries Coast Guard and John Grimes took the time to give everyone a message about water safety. Speaking to The Sun newspaper the 22 year old said: "We would urge young people to be very careful around water and the sea. This could have been a tragedy but for the good work of the Coast Guard."

For their part, the Coast Guard wanted to make it clear that they didn't know it was Jedward when they were called out.
