John Lithgow Has an Epic Beard and People are Mean to Him Because of it

Movie legend John Lithgow doesn't need to become any more epic. But he has, appearing on Jimmy Fallon with a truly incredible beard.

It's all to help him get into character for the part of Lear himself in Shakespeare's King Lear. It's part of the Shakespeare in the park tradition, which gives free performances in Central Park. That's some fine casting, but the beard hasn't been entirely successful. Some people are just mean to him when he isn't so recognisable.

Check out what he had to say.

Lithgow is joined on stage by the likes of Annette Benning.

King Lear kicks off in Central Park from the 22nd of July and the performances are indeed free - you can get more details here.
