Niall Horan’s proud dad was Up All Night as a butcher in Tesco while his son made music history, reports Sean Murphy.
One Direction made chart history on Wednesday when their album Up All Night became the first by an Irish-UK band to debut in the US at No.1.
But dad Bobby revealed yesterday he was not celebrating at home in Mullingar, Co Westmeath — because he was completing a gruelling all-night work shift.
When he finished yesterday morning, he joked that he hopes 18-year-old Niall’s music career lasts as long as the 15-year Mahon Tribunal. He said: “He’s chasing the dream. If his career lasts as long as the Mahon Tribunal he’ll be doing well!” The band sold 179,000 copies to take top spot from Bruce Springsteen.
