X Factor boyband, One Direction, revealed their second single, Got To Be You, on radio in the UK for the first time yesterday.
The band, which features Irish teenager Niall Horan, will release the single on download on November 13. The song follows their debut smash hit, What Makes You Beautiful and is the second to be released from the boys’ forthcoming album, Up All Night.
The album will be released a week after the single on November 20. One Direction will be going head to head with veteran boyband Westlife who are also releasing their new single, Lighthouse on November 13. Westlife are also releasing their new Greatest Hits album on the same day as One Direction’s debut album launch.
Mullingar star, Niall, and his band mates, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson have already scooped the fastest selling single of the year in the UK. They sold more than 153,000 copies of the track What Make You Beautiful in a week.
Irish chart-toppers Westlife are hoping for a major hit with their new single, Lighthouse, written by Gary Barlow. They shot the video to the new single on a safari reserve in South Africa.
However, it’s expected the man band, who split with Simon Cowell’s Syco record company earlier this year, will have a hard job competing with One Direction for sales.
