One Direction superstar Niall Horan said he still doesn't consider himself to be a celebrity - despite being one fifth of the biggest boyband on the planet.
The down-to-earth teenager from Mullingar said he hasnít resorted to donning disguises to avoid attention from fans.
The 18 year old, who has almost five million followers on twitter, said he still feels like a normal teenager.
He said: "You have an ego if you put a disguise on. I have never done it because then you are a celebrity."
But the hugely popular singer said he has been astonished by some of the antics of his fans during their recent tour of America.
He said: "The crowd think we can see them just because they can see us. I was standing on the side of the stage and this iphone with the house key sellotaped to it came flying at me.
"I saw it at the last second and slapped it down. Otherwise it would have broken my collar bone. There was a rude note attached to it. You can guess, it was (her) phone and her key.
"One girl had a really clever idea. She threw one walkie talkie on stage to Harry who picked it up and was sayingí hello, helloí and she was on the other end. It was a good idea."
The down-to-earth star said he did ìjust fineî on the dating scene before he became an international popstar.
And he said the band members never squabble over girls because they are all attracted to different women.
"We've all got similar but very different types (in women)."
And he said his biggest turn-off in the opposite sex is a girl who is too full of herself.
He said in an interview with Bert radio: "(I like) someone that plays it cool and doesn't act like 'look at me I'm hot' kind of thing."
The Irish popstar, who recently took a well-earned break from touring, said he loved America but wasn't impressed with their legal age for drinking alcohol.
"I like a pint. Being an Irishman in America with the drinking age at 21 can't happen", he joked.
"Everything else is so good. The weather is good, the women are hot, the food is good and the people are fun. Everyone is really happy all the time."
He also told how he can't wait to get behind the wheel of his first car when he pases his driving test.
He told Bert radio: "I started all my lessons and then we went on tour so I can't drive. I can drive but I haven't done my test yet."
And the heartthrob said he would choose to have Harry's physique if he could swap with his body with another member of One Direction.
He said: "I think I would swap with Harry because I have a really fast metabolism and I can't seem to put on any weight.
"He has this metabolism where he can pick what weight he wants to be. He's like a boxer."
The 18 year old may have rubbed shoulders with superstars like Will Smith and Justin Bieber and dining at Gordon Ramsay's restaurant while on world tour but he flew out to Spain with a group of childhood pals last week when he arrived back home.
The heartthrob hasn't forgotten his Mullingar roots with his meteoric rise to fame and recently took time out from his world tour to wish his best mates good luck with their school exams.
He left his CBS school a year before completing his Leaving Certificate after being chosen to form part of One Direction two years ago.
He is set to spend the rest of the summer in studio with the band putting the finishing touches to their second album before heading back out touring again.
