RTE star
Ryan Tubridy is in talks about returning to the BBC this year - after a series of successful presenting stints on radio.
The Late Late Show host filled in for
Graham Norton during his summer holidays and attracted an impressive 3.27 million listeners.
When asked if he would be returning to the BBC he said: “It’s very possible but nothing confirmed so I can’t tell you yes or no.” Ryan also presented a show over Christmas about Riverdance and also covered for BBC Radio 2 presenter Ken Bruce over Christmas.
Former daytime TV presenter
Sile Seoige recently had a pop at the line up of
The Late Late Show and Tubridy hit back at the comments. He said: “No I don’t care. I literally don’t. I don’t sweat the small things and that’s a small thing. Does that all sound very self helpy?”
Tubridy (38) also explained that he has no regrets about shutting down his Twitter account last year because it was just a forum for negativity. He explained: “It was one of the greatest things I ever did was get rid of it because it’s a small bunch of very loud people and it’s a channel for a lot of unpleasantness. It has it’s uses but not for me.
“My favourite cartoon was of a funeral parlour and they are looking into the casket and there’s all these chairs sitting there empty and the two guys are standing there going ‘Well he had a lot of friends on Facebook’. I think if you want to have friends go and have a pint with them, stop showing them pictures of your babies.”
Tubridy did not want to comment on his private life but he is believed to be still dating former Rose of Tralee Aoibhinn Ni Shuilleabhain. He also feels that he turned a page professionally in the New Year and that things are looking up for him.
He said: “2011 was a bumpy ride but I did wake up on New Year’s Day and say this is going to be good and for some weird reason things are going my way at the moment. I’m getting car park spaces when I least expect them. I’m letting people out in junctions and immediately I get something back. I’m the biggest fan of the Muppets and I got a Muppet made of me. What more could I ask for? All my ambitions are being filled.”
Meanwhile, Desperate Housewives star
Dana Delany has revealed that she enjoyed a night on the tiles with Tubridy after an appearance on his old chat show. She said: “The last time I was here was two years ago when I was on Ryan Tubridy’s last show before he went to the Late Late Show and we had a lock in. We went to the pub and had a lock in. I left at six and they were still going as the sun came up.”
