Young Irish actress Saoirse Ronan has become a regular in big-budget films, such as Atonement, The Lovely Bones, Hanna, The Host, The Grand Budapest Hotel and Muppets Most Wanted. Her latest film Brooklyn, based on Colm Toibin’s book, has led her home to shoot in Ireland for several weeks before visiting Canada for more filming.
Based in Wexford, Ronan’s shooting began on Monday. In a sense Ronan could probably view both Ireland and the home of Hollywood’s big films, America, as her home as she was born in the Bronx before moving to Carlow as an infant.
According to The Independent.ie “Saoirse was spotted chatting to members of the crew between takes yesterday. And the shivering star kept warm when the cameras were not rolling by covering up her quaint outfit with a dressing gown, black coat and boots. The Carlow native happily signed autographs for her young fans before leaving in a taxi after a hard day's work.”
Ronan will play Nora, an Irish woman who leaves to work in America and falls in love with an Italian-American. A family tragedy eventually leads her home.
