Tallafornia star Kelly Donegan has defended her pal Hazel O’Sullivan after her controversial diet came under fire from her fellow models.
Hazel (23) has lost weight on a diet that uses the female pregnancy hormone HCG — which has been extracted from urine.
As well as taking hormones, the diet advocates just 500 calories a day — 1,000 calories below what is recommended for a healthy adult female. Earlier this week model
Pippa O’Connor said the diet sounded “horrific” while Tiffany Stanley described it as a
“glorified starvation diet”.
Kelly (22) said: “People take things so literally. Dave [Behan] was telling me there are energy supplements people take all the time that have women’s urine. People comment on things before they have the facts. I was surprised the models had a lot of negative things to say.”
She added: “When I rang her about it she said it was blown way out of proportion. It’s just a hormone. Everybody does fad diets, everyone tries something at one stage.” Best friends Kelly and Hazel will be together tonight at the Premier League Darts event in Belfast’s Odyssey Arena.
They will feature as the walk-on girls for
Sky Sports and they can’t wait until the event comes to Dublin. Kelly said: “Next month they will be here in Dublin. We will be doing meet and greet with fans and the walk-on with the darts players. Hazel is one of my best friends and we always have a laugh. We are called the terrible twosome.”
