Andrew Garfield, the star of The Amazing Spider-Man, has revealed in an interview with
The Times Of India that he practiced his kissing scenes on his arms and that he has great appreciation for Toby Maguire’s portrayal of the webbed one.
When asked about any iconic moments from the new movie,
Garfield replied: “Well yes, there is the first kiss between Peter and his love interest, Gwen Stacy. I got to practise for that - although on my own, I must add.
“I practised kissing on my hand, arms and in the mirror. I was just hoping I'll remember how to kiss when the moment comes and not fumble.” And the humble 28-year-old was full of praise for Maguire. “I love the work that Toby did. I've watched him in the earlier three movies as a fan and I feel that what he did was perfect. I would never even begin to compare myself with him.
“And I feel it's not the point either. This film is another chapter in the legacy of Spider-Man and my responsibility was to remain true to the core of the character. I've tried to do it as best as I could,” he said.
Garfield also told how it was an honour to meet Spider-Man creator
Stan Lee, the man who has given skinny kids the world over hope. “I'll always remember meeting Stan Lee, the creator of Spider-Man. Like the earlier movies, he has a cameo in this one as well. It was incredibly exciting to meet such a legend, who's given so much hope to skinny boys around the world.”
The Amazing Spider-Man - which also stars Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen and Denis Leary - is released in July.
