Boyband
The Wanted have launched war on rivals
One Direction — saying: “We’re a real band.”
They fired the first salvo in a battle for chart dominance by suggesting X Factor stars One Direction are only around as they “have good faces” rather than musical ability.
Both groups are making waves across the pond in America with their debut albums and are making regular telly appearances. But gobby Wanted singer
Max George (23) has ridiculed the rival fivesome — including Mullingar lad
Niall Horan (18).
He said: “I’m not sure how well they’re actually doing yet. They’re more faces, if you know what I mean. I think people look at them more like a Jonas Brothers sort of band that are TV and children’s magazine based. He added: “I think our audience over there is sort of 18 to 25 or 30. We have a lot of radio play but I think we’re more of a musical band.”
The Wanted — who include Dubliner
Siva Kaneswaran (23) in their ranks — are currently beating One Direction in the US charts as their single Glad You Came soared to No 5 in the
Billboard Hot 100. One Direction’s track, What Makes You Beautiful, fell from No 28 to 50.
