Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have agreed a quickie divorce settlement, her lawyer revealed last night.
The Hollywood couple thrashed out a deal just 10 days after announcing their split.
They had been due to face each other in court next Tuesday to begin a bitter divorce battle.
But Mission: Impossible star Tom ordered his lawyers to act quickly to limit damage to his reputation.
Insiders say he was also desperate to protect the Church of Scientology, which had come under scrutiny in recent days. Sources last night said that Katie will have sole custody of six-year-old daughter Suri.
It was revealed that Suri will remain with Katie, and will be accompanied by her own team of bodyguards when she visits father Tom to ensure she won’t be indoctrinated into Scientology.
Katie (33) walked out on Tom following claims he wanted to send Suri to a Scientology boot camp. The source said: “Katie insisted that Suri’s nanny and bodyguards always accompany her when she visits Tom... This will ensure a smooth and easy transition for Suri when she is with Tom.
“Suri is Katie’s number one priority. Tom only has Scientologists that work for him and Katie insisted that her staff will always be with their daughter. Under the terms of the settlement, Suri isn’t permitted to be exposed to anything Scientology related and this includes going to any Scientology churches, parties, etc. Katie made sure that this was ironclad.”
However, Tom (50) will get extensive visiting rights and will have to cough up hefty child maintenance payments. But as Katie signed an iron-clad pre-nup, she is unlikely to get a cent of his €250m fortune. Last night her lawyer Jonathan Wolfe said: “This case has been settled. We are thrilled for Katie and her family and are excited to watch as she embarks on the next chapter of her life.”
