Irish schoolgirl Janet and the other contestants were stunned last night after bosses made the announcement they are axing two contestants from the show on Sunday.
The double-elimination is believed to be part of a ratings battle after X Factor was clobbered in last Saturday night's ratings
The show’s ratings of 9.6 million for the first time in four years by the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing which got 10.2m viewers. However, Sunday night's results show saw X Factor's ratings rally to 13.8 million viewers - making it the most-watched programme of the weekend.
Janet's mentor Kelly Rowland is determined not to lose another act. The American star missed last week's X Factor show due to illness and saw her act, Sophie Habibis, axed from the line-up on Sunday's results episode. However, Kelly revealed she's back and is working her last two acts - Janet Devlin and Misha B like never before. "Janet and Misha are amazing and work extremely hard but I will be on them like white on rice this week to ensure that we don't have a repeat of last weekend," said Kelly.
The brunette beauty admitted that she was 'devastated' to miss all last week's rehearsals and shows amid rumours that she was avoiding Tulisa Contostavlos after an on air spat. "I'm so happy to be back in the UK and here for my girls,'' she said. ìI feel so much better for the rest I've had and getting stuck in preparing for this weekend's show. I'm devastated that I missed last weekend.''
Rowland also tweeted: ìExcited for what my girls have planned for this week's show!
Janet already faces a tough night on Saturday as the soft-voiced crooner takes on this week’s theme of upbeat Club Anthems. However, it’s yet more bad news for the Tyrone beauty as nine surviving contestants will be reduced to just seven during the results show on Sunday. This is the biggest elimination on the show since it’s live debut when each of the mentors were asked to axe one of their own acts in a ‘Big Twist’ episode.
Irish teenager Janet sang for survival with her category rivals Amelia Lily, Sophie Habibis and Mischa Bryan. Her mentor Kelly Rowland eventually eliminated hot favourite, Amelia Lily, from the girls’ group. Fellow judges, Louis Walsh, Tulisa Contostavlos and Gary Barlow were also asked to boot off one of their four acts. Girl group 2 Shoes, squaddie Jonjo Kerr and singer, James Michael were all axed along with Amelia on the first live show of the season.
