Mickey Cohen (
Sean Penn) and Sgt. John O’Mara’s (
Josh Brolin) squad of peacekeepers go head-to-head in the latest trailer for
Gangster Squad. While the trailer clocks in at just a minute long, there is plenty of action, hand-to-hand combat and gunplay packed into the segment. The squad are tasked with taking down Cohen by any means necessary and that’s exactly what they plan to do from the looks of it. As you would expect, Cohen isn’t willing to go quietly.
Cohen illustrates why he is to be taken out as he opens the trailer with some words of wisdom. He owns Los Angeles, by his reckoning, and he will take anything that he wants. Some of the LAPD officers recruited for the task don’t let the enormity of the situation get them down. “Well, you gotta die of something,” chimes
Ryan Gosling when he is informed of the plan. It certainly looks like an interesting prospect from the trailers that we have seen so far.
Gangster Squad is directed by
Ruben Fleischer, and co-stars
Emma Stone,
Michael Peña,
Nick Nolte, and
Anthony Mackie. Gangster Squad will be released on January 11th, 2013.
