TV’s iconic Batman, Adam West, gave Ben Affleck his support at San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend, saying that he will be “very good in the role.”

West, who played a very different type of Batman in the original TV series from 1966 to 1968, said that it will be “fun to see” the new portrayal. Affleck’s casting has been the subject of much scrutiny since its announcement. But fans who were dedicated enough to get into Hall H were able to get a quick glimpse of Affleck as Batman as they were treated to a teaser trailer.

Batman’s portrayal has changed drastically over the years. West’s version featured a more upbeat and quirky style. As West said, “We just slapped on some make up and gave it a lot of imagination - I guess I was the Bright Knight - not the Dark Knight."

West was speaking at the launch of Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham. He provided voice-over work for the title, which allows players to play as the 1960s version of the character.
