The Conjuring was one of our favourite horror movies of 2013, a perfect blend of period setting and serious scares.
Part of that success was down to the totally creepy Annabelle doll, modelled after the real one which currently resides at the home of the Warren family. She kicked off the scares and was a constant threatening presence throughout. And now, she's getting her own leading role.
Annabelle is a spin off movie set before the start of The Conjuring showing the origins the doll and providing plenty of scares along the way. Here's the second very effective trailer.
Dolls that do things they shouldn't are certainly scary but I'll less interested in the fact that we'll see the person who actually possessed the doll. Isn't it much more scary to have little to no explanation? And having a woman walking around isn't nearly as terrifying as the unknown doll shenanigans.
Annabelle is in cinemas from the 10th of October 2014.
