Tom Cruise sits next to award winning drama this week as both Jack Reacher 2 and I, Daniel Blake arrive in cinemas. There's a horror offering for the month that's in it, as well as fun animation and a drama about chess.
Jack Reacher: Never Go Back
Tom Cruise returns for this not-quite expected sequel which sees him back in the part of Reacher, a popular character created by Lee Childs who has appeared in at least 20 novels. This time he's helping out an army major played by Cobie Smulders and there are also baddies and a young girl in the mix.
Ouija: Origin of Evil
A new franchise is born! Those folks at Blumhouse have found another earner in the Ouija series which debuted in 2014 and is back for more. This second film is a prequel set in the 60s and involves a family getting involved with evil spirits through the game, then things get really spooky.
A starry cast including Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake are lending their voices to the story of Trolls- yes this is about those little plastic models with the huge hair that you probably had in your bedroom in the 90s. It's a full on musical with songs by JT and all manner of colourful happenings.
The Queen of Katwe
This drama is about a young Ugandan woman growing up in the slums who finds a way to escape when she discovers chess. It's an inspiring true story with a great cast including award winners Lupita Nyong'o and David Oyelowo.
I, Daniel Blake
British director Ken Loach helms this stunning drama about an English man who becomes too ill to work and his struggle to meet his basic needs in a system which seems intent on pushing him aside. A multiple award-winner, this is a timely film which everyone should see.
