Christian Bale has confirmed that he will no longer be donning the famous cape as Batman, as shooting wrapped on The Dark Knight Rises last week. Speaking to the Phillipine Daily Enquirer, the British actor confirmed that he was bringing down the curtain on the Dark Knight's finest series of movies to date.
"I wrapped a few days ago, so that will be the last time I'm taking that cowl off. I believe that the whole production wrapped yesterday, so it's all done. Everything's finished. It's me and Chris -- that will be the end of that Batman era," he said.
The movie, which is set to open in July 2012, seeks to wrap up the Christopher Nolan trilogy in style, with many fans curious as to where the franchise can go from here after such a masterclass from the pair. Bale will star alongside Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy and Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the movie which is sure to prove a guaranteed smash hit.
However Bale won't be putting his feet up just yet, he is set to star in two brand new films from the Click favouriteTerrence Mallick, as well as making his next big screen appearance in The Flowers of War, a period movie set in China directed by Zhang Yimou early next year.
