Mel Gibson has been hiding away from the limelight for a number of years now but he's slowly on the way back with a new directorial effort called Jacksw Ridge and now his first lead role since the pretty terrible Get the Gringo in 2012.
Blood Father is the story of a man who reconnects with his estranged daughter, only to find she's mixed up some pretty dodgy dealings. And that calls for him to pull out some special skills.
Here's the second trailer with more story and a clean shaven Mel.
It's hard to tell but maybe the non-beard moments come from an earlier timeline? Otherwise this looks like pretty standard stuff, albeit with a decent cast including William H. Macy, Diego Luna and a part for Elizabeth Rohm though she's absent from the trailer. She was the detective in Angel many years ago.
The film comes from director Jean-François Richet who helmed the ambitious crime film Mesrine with Vincent Cassel in 2008, so maybe there's a chance this could be more than another Taken rip off.
Blood Father is in cinemas in October, 2016.
