Ghostbusters 3 has been in the works for a very long time, with the last movie released more than 20 years ago. Now, its finally happening.
Or at least the film finally has a confirmed director. Paul Feig will take that venerated seat on the picture, tweeting that he'll also be co-writing it with The Heat scribe Katie Dippold. His other slice of info was also telling.
As has been suggested in the past, it looks like this is going to be a female-focussed team for the new Ghostbusters and after so long a gender 180 probably makes sense. That likely won't stop some cameos from the likes of Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd - with Mr. A in particular lobbying pretty hard for the film in recent years. Probably because he wouldn't mind getting some work.
Oh and another thing is pretty much certain - given Feig's output in recent years, you can be damn sure that Melissa McCarthy is going to be donning that jumpsuit and making jokes about crossing streams.
There's no release date yet for Ghostbusters 3 but given its still in the writing phase, don't expect anything until at least 2016.
