Candy Crush appeared on the scene in 2012 and took over our mobile devices with the fruitless pursuit of hundreds of levels where you had to line up sweet delights until the game decided you couldn't proceed anymore so it made things impossibly hard to encourage you to pay real world cash to continue.
Four years on and it's fair to say that particular obsession has eased somewhat, but that doesn't mean the property is gone as a TV show is in the works.
For once, this doesn't mean they're trying to invent a storyline to bring these strange elements together. Instead the CBS series will be an hour long game show which will see teams playing the game on huge interactive boards.
There will be a physical element involved and some kind of competitive play. There's also a suggestion that home viewers will be able to get involved somehow. Presumably there will be many graphics and some fancy prizes for the winners. But really are there any winners in this game?
