It's not all that long ago that Channing Tatum was viewed as a bit of a joke in Hollywood circles, but with a string of great performances under his belt, the star is now taken an awful lot more seriously - and rightly so.
Earlier this year the star spoke about how much he'd like to nab a role in a future X-Men flick, even going so far as to say that he had plans to chat with some of the movie's producers about the possibility of getting involved, citing Gambit as his preference.
Well, the good news for Mr. Tatum is that everything looks to have gone swimmingly, and he's set to step into the shoes of his favourite mutant in the very near future. X-Men producer Lauren Shule Donner was the bearer of good news in an interview with Total Film this week, where she confirmed that the Magic Mike actor would indeed be playing Gambit, real name Remy LeBeau, on the big screen.
He’s a rogue. Channing, he’s a rascal, just like Remy LeBeau. And he can handle the action. We all know that. And he’s got a really good heart.
Shule Donner didn't go as far as to give any indication of how long the deal is for, whether it's OFFICIAL official, or when we can expect to see Tatum's first appearance, but we're delighted for the actor and can't wait to see him tackle his new role!
