Today we’ve got a clip from
Colin Firth’s latest,
Gambit.
The film is actually a remake of a 1966 movie starring
Michael Caine and
Shirley MacLaine and the two share the common story of a pair who team up to steal a priceless piece of art from a wealthy collector.
The remake has been in and out of production since the original arrived more than 45 years ago. It moved closer in the 90s with a variety of directors attached (like
Alexander Payne and
Mike Nicols) but didn’t truly gain steam until American screenwriters
Joel and
Ethan Coen came on board for an extensive rewrite which shifted the action to the United States.
Colin Firth may seem like the perfect 21st century replacement for
Caine and he was pencilled in for the project for half a decade before production finally began. He stars opposite
Cameron Diaz (in the
MacLaine role) as well as
Alan Rickman and
Stanley Tucci in a film directed by
Michael Hoffman (
The Last Station).
We’ve got a clip from the film which shows the rather tenuous grasp which Harry Deane (that’s
Firth) has on how feckless he is in real life. Check it out.
Gambit is in cinemas from the 21st of November. Check back soon for our review.
