Hollywood producer Philip Lee, who has produced the likes of The Dark Knight and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, visited Limerick recently to scout out locations for Inversion.
Inversion is a $120 million science-fiction movie in which life on earth is threatened because the planet begins to lose its gravity. The film will be directed by Scott Waugh who last worked on Need for Speed, which grossed more than $200 million.
Details of this visit have emerged just as Limerick City and Council confirmed that they’re in advanced negotiations to purchase a former Dell building in Limerick. It is hoped to transform it into a multimillion euro film studio.
A source said that Lee scouted a number of locations around Limerick and the surrounding region, including Shannon airport. They added, “They stayed at a hotel in Limerick city for the weekend and had discussions with Innovate Limerick about the potential for filming in a film studio in the region.”
Inversion is scheduled for a 2016 release.
