Dawn of The Planet of the Apes SFX Feature is predictably impressive
Aping reality

Yesterday I gushed about Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Because it takes a mature, measured look at the nature of conflict and territory and blame and juxtaposes these themes with the contrast of the familiar and the fantastical. But more than all that shite, it’s got chimps riding horses dual wielding machine guns! Yes it does!

The film’s latent intelligence* aside, it also looks dynamite. Visually. With your eyes, like. Below is a bit of a Weta workshop, where the special effects team give us the low down on how these great apes come to life onscreen.

Also how they ride horses.
And dual wield machine guns.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes swings into cinemas on July 17th.

*In contrast to say…. Transformers: Age of Extinction
