Deadpool was a total surprise, an over the top and very silly superhero film at a time when the genre is starting to sink into its own seriousness. And, despite being really foul mouthed and a bit of a mess, it's become one of the biggest box office hits of the year.
A sequel has been a certainty for quite a while now but the whole project it still being beaten into shape. Star Ryan Reynolds only recently confirmed he was returning after a significantly larger paycheque was secured and now we're hearing that director Tim Miller is also back.
Miller is a former VFX guy who has been pushing for this unlikely film for years, even going so far as creating an expensive test sequence featuring Reynolds which was eventually leaked and contributed to getting the feature made.
So it was always reasonable to assume that he would be back on board if more was to come from the franchise, and now its official with word from studio 20th Century Fox at CinemaCon 2016. There's no release date just yet, but at this point it's likely to be early 2018.
