Under the aegis of his wealthy benefactor Mrs Teasdale, enterprising Rufus T Firefly successfully becomes dictator of the nation of Fredonia, much to the consternation of Ambassador Trintino from the neighbouring state of Sylvania. The ambassador is keen to overthrow Firefly and claim Fredonia as his own, so he despatches two spies Pinky and Chicolino to report back on the dictator and his actions.
