Middle-aged widow Salma Zidane lives on the Israel-West Bank border and makes a living from her beautiful lemon grove, planted many years ago by her father. Conflict quite literally comes to Salma's back yard when Israeli Defense Minister Israel Navon and his wife Mira decide to build their new home on land bordering the grove. The trees are deemed to be a security risk - terrorists could hide there - and Salma watches in horror as the Minister makes plans to chop down the grove. Rather than accepting her fate, the widow approaches Palestinian lawyer Ziad Daud to launch a vigorous legal defence.
